Such a perfect day

Today, finally, there was so much light out it felt like walking into a song by the Grateful Dead. Lots of space, everything in clear view.

But, as with the Dead, you never know what to expect. First, there's perfect bliss, then, something else happens. Soon enough, a thick, unpenetrable wall of white fog, or haze, creeped in from the sea, wrapping up everything in sight.

Compassion, beauty, danger, all without a net.

As it happens, I was listening to Garcia sing Dylan. Among the songs was "She Belongs to Me," one of my all-time favourites, with its magic opening lines:
She's got everything she needs,
She's an artist, she don't look back.
She can take the dark out of the nighttime
And paint the daytime black.
