Hard rain, tough questions

I just finished watching & listening to Bob Dylan sing "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall" in Concert for Bangladesh in 1971. What a great song, and, sadly, not a bit out-dated. He sung it compassionately and without anger, as he did with the three other songs he performed that night: "It Takes a Lot to Laugh," "Blowin' in the Wind" and "Just Like a Woman" — all containing images of rain or devastation. I'm sure we'll soon hear plenty of songs performed in relief of the Katrina victims, too, and there's nothing wrong with that, on the contrary. But I also think nothing is actually solved unless president Bush and others responsible for the on-going tragedy will really start looking into the things Dylan provided in answer to his pounding question: "Where have you been, my blue-eyed son?"
